A 17-year-old boy was hurt in a drive-by shooting Monday morning in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

He was in the 4800 block of West Monroe about 10:35 a.m when a black SUV drove by and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot twice in the hip and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.

A police source said the teenager has an extensive criminal history and is a documented gang member.
