A 14-year-old boy was shot to death and another teenage boy was injured in a drive-by shooting Saturday night in Kenwood.

The teenagers were outside in the 4400 block of South Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. when a car drove by and someone inside started shooting, according to police.

The 14-year-old boy, identified as Tyjuan Poindexter of the 1200 block of East 46th Street, was shot in the head and died at the scene at 8:01 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Witnesses told police there was an altercation in a nearby park before the shooting, but it is unclear if the altercation was related to the attack.
