Man shot in Austin

A man was shot Wednesday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

At 3:32 p.m., the 23-year-old man was walking in the 4900 block of West Erie Street when a light colored car pulled up and a passenger got out and shot him, police said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg, and a relative took him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.
