A southwest suburban man was arrested Thursday at Midway Airport after authorities at a security checkpoint found a loaded handgun in his carry-on bag.

This is the eighth time this year that officials have found a firearm in a carry-on bag at Midway, according to a statement from the Transportation Security Administration.

David Weber, 43, was at a security checkpoint at the airport when authorities found the loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson firearm about 9:30 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the TSA.

He was traveling from Chicago to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, the TSA said.

Weber, of Shorewood, was charged with one misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm in an airport, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said. Weber is scheduled to appear in court July 7.
