A string of burglaries this month on the Northwest Side has prompted police to issue an alert to residents in the area.

Four apartments and residences only a few miles apart were entered from front and rear doors, as well as windows, according to the community alert from Area North detectives. Electronics, jewelry, and cash were among the items taken.

The first burglary occurred in the 4800 block of West Ainslie in Forest Glen sometime between 3 p.m. Oct. 9 and 7 a.m. Oct. 10. The second happened two weeks later at 3:49 p.m. Oct. 23 in the 5600 block of North Elston in Jefferson Park.

The last two incidents occurred earlier this week less than a mile apart. One happened in the 5500 block of West Windsor in Portage Park between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 26. The last was in the 5000 block of West Agatite in Portage Park between 7:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Oct. 27.
