A man was critically wounded in an Austin neighborhood shooting Thursday morning on the West Side.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of North Lockwood about 11:30 a.m. and found a 28-year-old man unresponsive on the parkway with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Chicago Police.

Witnesses told police a vehicle stopped and the shooter got out and fired, then got back in the vehicle and drove away.

The victim was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

A source said the victim is a documented gang member.
