A suspicious suitcase spotted in the South Side Bronzeville neighborhood Sunday night was deemed safe.

Officers responded about 10:40 p.m. to a report of a suspicious suitcase found between two buildings in the 4700 block of South Prairie, according to Chicago Police.

The package was covered in an “unknown powder” and the Chicago Police Bomb Unit and Chicago Fire Department responded to the scene, police said.

The powder turned out to be dust and the area was cleared a short time later, police said.
