Man shot to death in Oakland

A man was shot to death Wednesday night in the South Side Oakland neighborhood.

DeLon Sims, 23, was sitting in a vehicle about 9:16 p.m. in the 4000 block of South Lake Park, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was talking to someone standing outside the vehicle when that person pulled out a handgun and fired at him.

Sims, who lived in the 5400 block of West Kamerling, was shot in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene at 9:35 p.m., authorities said.
