Burglaries reported in Back of the Yards, Gage Park

Police are warning residents about a series of burglaries reported last month in the Back of the Yards and Gage Park neighborhoods on the South Side.

In each incident, someone entered a home either through the front door or by pushing in an air conditioner and took property from within, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The break-ins occurred:

  • In the 5100 block of South Hermitage in the afternoon of Aug. 21;
  • In the 5200 block of South Wolcott in the afternoon of Aug. 25;
  • In the 2100 block of West 54th Street in the afternoon of Aug. 29; and
  • In the 5100 block of South Western in the morning of Aug. 31.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8382.
