A 13-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

At 3:18 p.m., the boy was standing in the 3500 block of West 16th Street, according to Chicago Police. A vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots. 

The boy was shot in the back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.

A police source said he is a documented gang member.
