The Sun-Times recently obtained a copy of the Chicago Public Schools boys basketball rules and regulations for the 2016-17 season.
According to the document, there will be no promotion and relegation after this season and the Public League will have a “full re-aligning” next season.
There has also been a change in the tiebreaker format. Previously the team that won the last game between the teams won the tiebreaker. Here are the new scenarios:
“Head-to-head competition results (If one tied team has more victories over the other tied team).
2. In the case that two tied teams have split victories:
a. The team with the greater point differential will be awarded the higher place in the standings.”
