Two women were killed and three other people were critically injured in an East Garfield Park neighborhood crash early Sunday on the West Side.
About 4:50 a.m., a 2013 Dodge Durango was speeding west in the 2600 block of West Fulton when the vehicle struck a building, according to the Chicago Police and Chicago Fire departments. The SUV had been reported stolen.
Imani Patterson, 17; and 20-year-old Jada Woodard were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Patterson lived on the Near West Side, and Woodard lived in the North Lawndale neighborhood.
The 22-year-old woman driving; 31-year-old Max Barnes, and 27-year-old Tiquell Harris were all taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital, authorities said.
Barnes, of the East Garfield Park neighborhood; and Harris, of Elgin, were each charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass to a vehicle, police said.
The driver has not been charged pending further investigation by the police Major Accidents Investigation Unit.
