Simeon stands with their 1st place trophy after defeating Curie at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. | Pat Gleason/For the Sun-Times

Well, if I’m going to be sick this wasn’t the worst weekend for it to happen. A lot of the area’s top teams are out of town. I was planning on heading down to Minooka to see the Indians take on Maine South but didn’t make it.

Tonight’s big news is Simeon. The Wolverines beat Memphis East 78-73 in overtime in Memphis to avenge one of their losses this season. Simeon lost to Memphis East when it was No. 1 in the country, it is currently No. 5. Simeon entered at No. 17, but they should rise after this.

Talen Horton-Tucker led the way with 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Xavier Pinson scored 14 and Missiah Jones had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
