A man died after being seriously wounded in a shooting Tuesday in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side, according to Chicago police.

The second shooting — and only murder — reported on Christmas Day happened at 10:18 a.m. in the 2300 block of South Whipple Street, police said.

Jose Hernandez, 25, was taken by ambulance to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 1:19 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the same neighborhood.

An autopsy released Wednesday found Hernandez died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide.

Police said the circumstances of the shooting were not known. Area Central detectives were investigating.
