A 52-year-old man was killed in a crash Thursday in northwest suburban Palatine.

He was driving a silver Chevrolet Silverado southbound about 10:17 p.m. on IL-53 south of Lake Cook Road when he struck a pole, causing the vehicle to roll over on its side, Illinois State police said.

The man, who was the sole occupant, died from his injuries, state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Norwood Park on the Northwest Side.

An autopsy released Friday ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

Illinois State Police are investigating.
