A 63-year-old man was killed Saturday when he was hit by a vehicle near his home in west suburban Elmwood Park.

The man was hit by the vehicle about 10:10 a.m. at the intersection of 72nd Court and Wrightwood Avenue, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was taken to Gottlieb Hospital where he was pronounced dead about half an hour later.

The man lived on the same block where he was hit, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled his death an accident, saying he died of blunt force injuries related to the crash.

Elmwood Park police did not immediately respond to a request for details.
