One day after both were limited participants, running back Matt Forte and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery did not participate Thursday at Halas Hall.

Forte has a sprained MCL in his knee and Jeffery a groin problem. One contributing factor to Thursday’s status was the fact the Bears practiced indoors and on artificial turf, which is traditional tough on those injuries.

Jeffery — who the team said also has a shoulder injury — played Sunday, though he caught only three passes. Forte has missed the past two games since hurting his knee at home against the Vikings.

“Right now we’re just trying to get Matt legitimately healthy,” coach John Fox said.

Outside linebacker Pernell McPhee did not practice Thursday while he nurses a knee injury.
