Adam Clendening, Joakim Nordstrom recalled by Blackhawks

The Blackhawks continued their roster shuffle on Tuesday.

Defenseman Adam Clendening and forward Joakim Nordstrom were recalled from the AHL Rockford IceHogs. Earlier Tuesday, the Hawks assigned defenseman Stephen Johns.

Clendening was a second round pick in 2011 but has never played in the NHL. He’s in his third AHL season with Rockford.

This, however, might be his chance. Defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk was put on long-term injured reserve Monday and the Hawks will need contributions from different defensemen while he’s out.

Nordstrom broke camp with the Hawks last season and has appeared in one NHL game this season – Sunday’s 6-2 win over Dallas.
