There’s no question Semyon Varlamov stole the show Tuesday night against the Blackhawks.

The Avalanche goalie made 54 saves in shutting out the Blackhawks at the United Center, setting an NHL record for saves in a regular-season shutout on the road.

Varlamov broke the record of 53 set by Craig Anderson in 2008. Curtis Joseph held the previous record of 52 set in 1996.

According to Yahoo, the game was the second time Varlamov faced over 50 shots in his career, making 50 saves on 55 shots in a loss to the Edmonton Oilers in Feb. 2013. Last year he went 4-0-0 with a 1.59 GAA and a .960 save percentage against the Blackhawks.
