Things were starting to get a little ridiculous for the Blackhawks at the United Center. They hadn’t scored a regulation goal in the last two home games. That all came to an end Monday night thanks to the man who scored the last two United Center goals.
With a scoreless game in the first period, Jonathan Toews received a pass from Ryan Garbutt with a clear look at Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. The captain found the back of the net giving the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead.
It was the first goal any team had scored in regulation at the United Center since Oct. 22 against the Florida Panthers.

Toews had scored the last three goals at the United Center, one in each of the last three games. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the only goal scored that period. The Kings answered with a goal of their own off the stick of Alec Martinez.
The Kings then followed that with a second goal from Anze Kopitar to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
