Bubbles, army men, Rubik's Cube added to Toy Hall of Fame

Bubbles, little green army men and the Rubik’s Cube are the 2014 inductees to The Strong’s National Toy Hall of Fame.

The winners, picked from among 12 finalists, were announced Thursday by the Rochester, New York, museum.

The toys that didn’t make the cut this year were American Girl dolls, Fisher-Price Little People, Hess Toy Trucks, My Little Pony, Operation Skill Game, paper airplanes, pots and pans, Slip‘N Slide, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

There are 56 toys in the National Toy Hall of Fame.

Anyone can nominate a toy. A committee of curators and historians reviews nominations, then a national selection committee receives the list of toy finalists. Each national selection committee member votes for his or her top toy picks for induction. The toys receiving the most votes make the cut for induction, according to the organization.
