WASHINGTON–The White House hosts a conference on working families in Chicago on Monday, featuring a cast of Chicagoans– White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett; First Lady Chief of Staff Tina Tchen, in her role asWhite House Council on Women and Girls Executive Director, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Sen. Dick Durbin D-Ill. and Rep. Jan Schakowsky D-Ill.

The event, according to the White House, is “part of a series of regional events to examine how 21st century workplaces can meet the needs of businesses and working families leading up to the White House Summit on Working Families in June.

“…The goal of the Summit and the regional events is to examine innovative solutions for creating workplaces that provide hardworking Americans the opportunity to get ahead and ensure that America remains competitive on a global scale. The regional discussions will help inform the national Summit on June 23, will explore how all sectors can work together on key issues facing workers with families and the businesses that want to recruit and retain them.”

The Chicago event is open to the public and also includesCenter for American Progress President Neera Tanden and

U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau Director Latifa Lyles.

It will be held between9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Chicago time at theMetcalfe Federal Building,77 West Jackson Blvd.
