Democratic Senate mega Chicago fund-raiser on April 11

WASHINGTON–Sen. Michael Bennet D-Col., the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee–the Senate political shop–is headlining a Chicago fund-raiser on April 11 targeting jumbo donors. A donation for the maximum–$32,400–gets the contributor into the DSCC “Majority Trust” program which allows special access to senators at briefings and, as the invite for the Chicago event says, “signature retreats.”

Sen. Dick Durbin D-Ill. has been a major donor to the DSCC; this year he is up for re-election facing GOP nominee state Sen. Jim Oberweis (R-Sugar Grove). Durbin is seen as such a frontrunner that the DSCC will likely not be putting significant resources into the Illinois race. But Chicago has been a great city for pulling out campaign cash for other contests.

The price points for the DSCC Chicago lunch with Bennet:

Majority Trust Member $32,400

Chair: $25,000|Co-Chair $10,000

Guest $5,000 | Friend $2,500
