Man shot during robbery in Englewood

The man was robbed by a group of males and is in serious condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Two people were shot dead June 21, 2021, in Woodlawn.

A 40-year-old man is in serious condition after he was shot during a robbery Saturday in Englewood on the South Side.

About 1:53 a.m., he was approached by several males in the 6100 block of South Hermitage Avenue who announced a robbery and took his wallet, Chicago police said.

One of the males in the group fired shots at the man, hitting him in the torso, police said. The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

The robbers drove off, possibly in a gray four-door vehicle, police said.

No arrests have been made as Area South detectives investigate.
