One man was killed and another was critically wounded Tuesday after a shooting in Hanson Park on the North Side.

About 1:20 a.m., the two men, 19 and 21 years old, were standing outside in the 2000 block of North Latrobe Avenue when someone fired shots at them, Chicago police said.

Ramell Randell, 19, was struck in the chest, head and arm while the 21-year-old was hit in the shoulder and grazed on the head, police said and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. They were both rushed to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where the Randell died and the 21-year-old was in critical condition.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the Randell’s death but hasn’t provided further details.

An autopsy found Randell died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said.

Police did not have a description of the shooter but believe that shots may have been fired from across the street.

Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.
