Man, 86, killed in Little Village hit-and-run

A man was killed in a hit-and-run Nov. 24, 2020, in Little Village.

An 86-year-old Little Village man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday in the Southwest Side neighborhood.

Eliseo Mendoza was struck by a gray-colored GMC SUV about 12:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of West 26th Street, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Police said the driver of the SUV fled.

Mendoza was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead hours later at 3:50 p.m., authorities said.

An autopsy found he died of blunt force injuries from the collision and ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

No arrests have been reported. CPD’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
