Two people were shot, one fatally, Friday in South Shore.

About 1 p.m., they were in the 2000 block of East 71st Street when a white Cadillac pulled up and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said.

A 24-year-old man was struck in the arm and leg and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was identified as Rakym Christmas of South Chicago, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Another man, 18, was taken to the same hospital with a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was listed in good condition, police said.

Area detectives are investigating.
