Man fatally shot in Chatham

The 26-year-old was driving when someone in a black sedan fired shots, officials said.

A man was shot dead Monday in Chatham on the South Side.

He was driving about 1:28 a.m. in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when someone in a black sedan fired shots, Chicago police said. He was struck in the head, abdomen and leg.

His car struck a building about a block away, and he was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as 26-year-old Lasean Deyoung.

No one is in custody as Area Two detectives investigate.
