Man shot to death in West Rogers Park alley

The man, 54, was hit in the chest and torso and was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he died, police said.

A man was killed in a shooting Thursday in West Rogers Park on the North Side.

The 54-year-old was with a group of people in an alley about 11:50 p.m. in the 7300 block of North Western Avenue when a minivan pulled up and three people got out and opened fire, according to Chicago police.

The man was hit in the chest and torso and was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified as Vincente Mojica, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in West Rogers Park.

An autopsy conducted Saturday confirmed Mojica died of his gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area Three detectives investigate.
