After Thursday’s weather-related postponement, the Cubs’ return to the postseason could end Friday afternoon against the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field. The National League wild card is a best-of-three, with the winner advancing to face the Reds or the Braves.
- Game 1: Marlins 5, Cubs 1. Ian Happ’s solo home run in the fifth inning accounted for the Cubs’ only run in Wednesday’s loss. Kyle Hendricks and Jeremy Jeffress gave up three-run and two-run homers, respectively, in the seventh inning.
- Game 2 is scheduled for at 1 p.m. Friday on ABC-7 and streaming on the ESPN app. Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish will go against Marlins right-handed starter Sixto Sanchez. Sanchez, who also will make his postseason debut, was 3-2 with a 3.46 earned-run average in seven starts this season.
