Smithfield Properties secured a $55 million construction loan for a 33-story apartment building it’s planning at Chicago Avenue and LaSalle Street, ChicagoRealEstateDaily.com reports. The tower would add 295 units downtown, where rentals are booming. About 5,000 apartments are being added from 2013-14, with another 4,000 expected next year.
