31st Street has been closed in west suburban La Grange Park at the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad tracks between Barnsdale Road and Beach Avenue for railroad crossing repairs.

As of Thursday, traffic on westbound 31st Street is being directed north on Maple Avenue, west on Cermak Road and south on LaGrange Road to reconnect with 31st Street. Eastbound traffic will follow the reverse route, according to a statement from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The project will be complete by Nov. 22.

Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, according to the statement.
