A 50-year-old man was fatally struck by a train early Sunday in DeKalb County.

Matthew T. Halverson, of DeKalb, was struck by the train about 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of First Street and McGrirr Street, according to police and the DeKalb County coroner’s office. Halverson was on the tracks just west of the First Street crossing when he was struck, the coroner’s office said.

Officials are investigating and police have ruled out foul play.
