A 19-year-old student died after apparently falling out of an 11th-floor dormitory window Saturday night at Northern Illinois University.

The student removed the window screen and fell from the 11th floor of the Stevenson Towers residence hall on the university’s campus in DeKalb, according to campus alert sent out Sunday night by Eric Weldy, vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.

The student, identified as Oluwarotimi Okedina, was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, and later died there, according to the alert and the DeKalb County coroner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday,

“I and the entire university community are deeply saddened by this tragic news,” Weldy said in the alert. “Our collective hearts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
