Lake-effect snow possible Monday in Chicago

Chicago will start out the week and the new year with a fresh coating of lake effect snow.

The snow is expected to begin falling late morning or midday Monday and drop up to three inches along the lakeshore, according to the National Weather Service. Some light accumulation of less than inch is possible further inland.

The high temperature Monday will hover around 31 with high winds gusting up to 25 mph, according to the weather service. Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 32.

Freezing rain, sleet and snow is possible Wednesday night and Thursday morning before changing into rain from the South to North midday Thursday.
