A man was shot to death Sunday afternoon in an East Garfield Park neighborhood attack on the West Side.

George Washington, 53, was shot in the chest just after 4 p.m. in the 700 block of North Christiana, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Washington, who lived in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:37 p.m., police and the medical examiner’s Office said.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigated.
