A 60-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a semi Wednesday afternoon on I-65 in northwest Indiana.

Cory A. Mayberry was riding a 2010 Harley Davidson Road King in the northbound lanes of I-65 near the I-80/94 westbound exit ramp when the motorcycle went off the road to the left and hit the concrete median a few minutes after 2 p.m., according to Indiana State Police.

The motorcycle crossed back into northbound traffic, and Mayberry rolled off the bike and in front of a 2016 Freightliner semi, according to police. The semi driver, a 42-year-old Chicago man, could not avoid Mayberry and struck him.

The motorcycle stayed upright and traveled about 150 yards across all lanes of I-65 before falling over on the I-80/94 westbound ramp, police said.

Mayberry, of the 5100 block of Boulder Avenue in Portage, Ind., was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:35 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy found he died of blunt force trauma and his death was ruled an accident.
