Man dead after jumping from Gold Coast building

A 36-year-old man died Monday afternoon after he jumped from a building in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

Police responded to a call of a person down about 1:30 p.m. in the 0-100 block of East Walton Place, where they found Andrew Johnson, who jumped from a great height, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Johnson, of the 700 block of West Belmont, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

Autopsy results show he died from multiple injuries suffered after jumping from a height, and his death was ruled a suicide.
