Overnight lane closures are scheduled on I-290 in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village from Saturday to Sunday as crews work to install new signs as part of the Elgin O’Hare Western Access Project.

Beginning at Saturday night at 11:59 p.m., three eastbound lanes of I-290 will be closed between Higgins Road and Route 390, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. One westbound lane will also be closed between Biesterfield Road and Route 390.

Intermittent full closures of the eastbound lanes are planned between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday, according to IDOT. The full closures will last 15 minutes each, and all lanes will be reopened by 8 a.m.

The ramps carrying traffic from Biesterfield to eastbound I-290 and from eastbound I-290 to Route 390 will also be closed from 1-7 a.m., IDOT said. Detours will be posted.
