White Sox get packing for Arizona

Pitchers and catchers report for spring training Feb. 17

The White Sox’ truck for spring training was packed and made ready to go to Glendale, Arizona, on Friday as the team prepared for spring training.

Pitchers and catchers officially report to Camelback Ranch on Feb. 17. The first full squad workout is Feb. 22, although many players have already been working out individually and informally for more than a week in Arizona as the Sox prepare for what they believe is a championship contention season.

The Sox reached the postseason in the abbreviated 2020 season for the first time since 2008 and return almost everyone from that team with the exception of catcher James McCann.

Pitchers Lance Lynn and Liam Hendriks and outfielder Adam Eaton were the team’s top offseason acquisitions.

The Sox also hired a new manager, Tony La Russa, a new pitching coach in Ethan Katz and bench coach Miguel Cairo.

The Cactus League opener is Feb. 27 against the Brewers, and Opening Day is April in Anaheim, Calif., against the Angels.
