A 16-year-old boy was shot in the hip Wednesday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 1:11 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Lexington, according to Chicago Police.

The teen suffered a gunshot wound to the hip and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

A police source said the wound was possibly self-inflicted.
