Two people were shot Sunday night in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman were walking on the sidewalk about 9 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Independence when a male came out of the alley nearby and fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

They both suffered gunshot wounds to their left sides and were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. The girl was listed in critical condition, while the woman’s condition was stabilized.
