A 48-year-old man died more than a week after he was struck by a semi truck while riding a bicycle in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Robert Lewis was riding a bicycle in the 3400 block of North Kedzie when he was struck by a semi about 1:30 p.m. Sept. 2, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Lewis, of the 3000 block of West School, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 11:22 p.m. Friday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Sunday found he died of multiple injuries from the crash, with hypertension and heart disease listed as a contributing factor.

Chicago Police could not immediately provide information about the crash.
