A smash-and-grab burglar used a pickup truck to drive through the front entrance of a gun shop early Tuesday in north suburban Libertyville.

The driver backed into the storefront about 4:30 a.m. at Just Target Guns, 334 W. Peterson Road, according to a statement from Libertyville police.

The truck was seen leaving the store and returning a short time later, when someone went in and stole cases of ammunition, police said.

The truck was dark-colored and has fresh damage to its back end, undercarriage and rear driver-side panel, police said. The burglar was described as a white or Hispanic man between 18 and 25, wearing a dark sweatshirt, black shorts, black high-top gym shoes with a bandana over his face.

Anyone with information should call police at (847) 362-8310.
