A man was found shot to death Thursday morning in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

The man, whose exact age was not immediately known, was found lying unresponsive on the ground in the 4600 block of West Monroe about 4:50 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the side of the head, according to Chicago Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death Thursday morning.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
