A man was shot Monday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

At 8:58 a.m., the 24-year-old was in the 7000 block of South Merrill when a male black wearing a red hooded sweatshirt walked up and fired shots before fleeing, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot multiple times in the body and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
