A 17-year-old boy was shot to death in the Burnside neighborhood on the South Side Thursday night.

About 9:45 p.m., officers on patrol near the 1300 block of East 94th Street heard gunfire and found Demetrius M. Peebles unresponsive on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Peebles, of the 2100 block of South Harper Avenue, was dead at the scene, the medical examiner’s office said.
