Two men were shot Thursday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The men, 23 and 22, were in a vehicle about 3 p.m. in the 5100 block of West Harrison when another vehicle approached and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The 22-year-old was shot in the chest, and the 23-year-old was shot in the abdomen. The men took themselves to Loretto Hospital where the younger man’s condition was stabilized and the older man was listed in critical condition, police said. Both were expected to be transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital.

A police source said the 22-year-old is a documented gang member.
