A blood test without the scary needle?

A blood test that needs as little as a drop of blood could soon be as close as the nearest Walgreens pharmacy.

Theranos Inc. lab services are available at Walgreens drugstores in the Phoenix area and Palo Alto, California, and are expected to roll out nationwide.

Theranos says its laboratory system can analyze samples as small as 1/1,000 the size of the typical blood draw.

“A new Silicon Valley start-up, Theranos, can run hundreds of lab tests on just 1 drop of your blood. Good-bye, huge, scary needle! All that’s necessary is a tiny finger stick,” digital pharmacist Betj Bolt wrote in Pharmacy Times.
