The Bears have placed another starter on injured reserve. On Thursday, veteran linebacker D.J. Williams joined linebacker Lance Briggs, cornerback Charles Tillman, guard Matt Slauson and receiver Brandon Marshall on IR.

Williams has a neck injury and will miss the final three games of the season. Williams had played in seven consecutive games after missing the Bears’ victory on Oct. 12 in Atlanta because of his neck.

According to coach reviews, Williams, who re-signed on a one-year deal, totaled 73 tackles this season.

With the open roster spot, the Bears signed fullback Montell Owens. The Bears haven’t used a prototypical fullback since Week 3, the last week Tony Fiammetta was with the team.

Owens made the Pro Bowl in 2010 and 2011. He has appeared in 108 games with four starts over nine seasons with the Jaguars (2006-12) and the Lions (2013-14).
